XL (more precisely, XL1 features the basic statement expected for most imperative programming languages.

Declarations in general behave like C++ declarations, including the ability to declare an initialization or default value, and the existence of constructors and destructors. There are generic entities. Declarations can always be declared using the : operator, but special forms exist for types, functions and a few other kinds of entities.
